HISTORY
The X OVER RIDE takes place now more since 2004 and can look back on an exciting history. What started in 2004 with a small freeride cross event over Langwied, developed into an annual season highlight with competitions in freeride, slopestyle and pipe for skiers and snowboarders.
With the first X OVER RIDE in 2004, the topic of freeride also made its way to the Kitzsteinhorn and over the next few years, work was consistently done on the development of the offer. The 5 freeride routes, the Avalanche Info Base or the permanently installed avalanche search field are now indispensable on the Kitzsteinhorn.
The glacier in the Zell am See-Kaprun region is not considered one of the most popular freerider resorts in the Alps for nothing. The reliable snow conditions and the extensive variety of off-piste options with fantastic cliff drops, wide powder fields and untracked make the Kitzsteinhorn the ideal spot for a big mountain event like the X OVER RIDE.
True to the motto “back to the roots”, the X OVER RIDE was held for the first time in 2012 as a Big Mountain Freeride Contest, as part of the Freeride World Qualifier Tour.
The X OVER RIDE 3-Star Qualifier has been held nine times and once as an FWT Challenger, making it one of the top qualifiers in Austria.
2025 an FWT Challenger will be held again
